Press release:
‘Dr.Avallo’ is the title of the permanent site-specific work that Ozmo, an internationally renowned Italian artist and pioneer of street art in Italy, has created for I-Days Milano Coca-Cola and inaugurated on June 30, in conjunction with the first and only Italian date of Travis Scott, a rapper at the top of the urban world stardom. The project carried out for Live Nation with the artistic direction of Patù Art+Adv, was born to open new frontiers of dialogue between music and art and is a perfect expression of the artist’s philosophy and ironic touch, never banal.\nThe work, inspired by a painting by Vittore Carpaccio, depicts a human being on horseback fighting a dragon, symbols of courage, resistance, and power.
This work can also be read through the interpretative lens of Carl Gustav Jung: the dragon represents the unconscious and the headless figure of the long-haired knight suggests a female subject who tries to tame instead of killing it.
Ozmo plays with symbols and meanings, introducing the dragon, a reference to San Siro in Genoa, in the place that refers to S.Siro in Milan. He quotes, painting masterfully, a masterpiece of the Italian Renaissance, but then ‘vandalizes’ it with the fluorescent stroke of a giant spray can.
This language of elements and symbols opens up to readings and reflections, giving life to an intervention that is not just a painting, but an open dialogue with the observer, the context, and the event that welcomes it.’ Dr.Avallo’ therefore does not limit itself to decorating a space, but transforms it, enriches it and makes it unique. It transmutes the wall into a stage for a timeless story that invites the observer to explore the symbols, look for hidden meanings and reflect on their own interpretations, it becomes a mirror that reflects our image, our thoughts, our emotions.
