“For the temporary replacement of the HIV / Aids monument
The piece depicts two hands reaching out for each other, struggling in bandages. It was designed around the relationships between those who have the virus and their loved ones. One of the interviewees that spoke to us told us what it was like having a partner infected with HIV. He mentioned; ‘We were so close, yet we were so distant’. Illness often isolates, but also brings people closer together. This piece is a symbol and a celebration of the love that grows at the edge of the abyss.
The piece will be separated into 3 pieces, and will be placed at Amsterdam Central Station on march 5.”
