“At the same time as Art Basel Hong Kong 2023, Zed1 realizes “Stories in the Wind” in collaboration with HKwalls and the Italian Cultural Institute in Hong Kong.
In Lower Lascar Row was born the representation of a meeting between two figures embracing each other in the middle of the wall: the first characterized by the green color, while the second by a deep red, lightly reproducing the three colors of our country.
The inspiration for this wall arises first from the flowers among the grates on this street, which have not been modified, not even those which were leaning on the drawing. And second, the colors of the city and the atmosphere when walking through the streets were also a key part of the sketch construction process. The most important element, however, was the meetings. In fact, when you move to a country far from your city and your routine, you learn how to make instant connections that may seem simple, quick, random, but can hold many surprises for you, if you let them.
This work is about stories and chance matches, with an unknown duration: the wind represents indeed fate, which, as it bunches the leaves on the street corner bringing them together, likewise suddenly divides them, separating them forever, or perhaps only for a short time.”
