“I’ve always wanted to paint something for Father’s Day. Here is is.
The city of Le Mans commissioned me to make something that commemorated the Wright brothers’ first public flight, which was in Le Mans in 1908, and La Mancelle, the first car manufactured in series (in 1878), invented by Amédée Bollée, whose family helped the Wright brothers coordinate the flight demos out of their automobile factory.
On the bottom, it reads:
For all those who came before us
And showed us the way
And for my father,
Who has always been there for me.
Happy Father’s Day.
Bonne Fête des Pères.”
