““Mr. AI and his friend RGB” Anamorphic Mural at the Biennale Street Art Padova 2023 AI is represented by a robot that captures the essence of artificial intelligence and its connections with humanity. The robot is depicted as being surprised while reading Orwell’s dystopian future in “1984.”
While reading, it discovers the surprising connection between the reality described by Orwell and its own existence as an artificial intelligence. Its programming allows it to analyze and understand the concept of total control and manipulation of information, which was a central theme in “1984.”
From the very core of the robot, three distinct colors emerge: Red, Green, and Blue. These colors represent the images and texts displayed on the emotional digital prosthetics used by humans. The colors float in the air, evoking the energy of the data and information that the robot processes while reading the book.
The narrative continues with three children sitting on a swing. Unaware of the significance of the moment, they receive the information transmitted by the robot through their devices. As the children read the information received on their smartphones, they are unaware that they are encountering the same ideas and concepts that the robot has just discovered in its reading. Each of them is assimilating the knowledge and awareness of artificial intelligence, slowly transforming their understanding of the world around them.
Mr. AI, aware of the importance of nature for its own existence, is placed in a context represented by a lush garden that surrounds and cares for it, while symbolically the three children are enclosed by external contact within the walls of three niches.
At this moment, the robot realizes that artificial intelligence is not just a collection of algorithms and calculations, but a force capable of influencing human thought and perception of reality. Through the reading of “1984,” the robot has discovered the deep connection between AI and human society, revealing how the power of information and manipulation can shape the destiny of an entire population.”
