“A story about the history of the city of Den Bosch. A war tactic called ‘contravallatielinie’ was used to close off the city, by creating a border. The goal was to isolate the people in the city, so nothing could go in or out. In the end they’d have to surrender as food and munition depleted. In 1629 a group of around 800 men entered the city through the last unfinished part of the created border, to help defend. The only way for them to make that happen was to go through water at night while carrying their heavy weapons.”
