“In an ongoing collaboration with Asian Paints, St+art transforms regular walls into works of art across different parts of the country. Each #DonateAWall puts a call out for entries in a specific city which can be nominated by one and all. Selected walls are then adorned with an artwork driven by a story.
This year, Gujarat’s streets come alive as art touches down, starting in Surat. The iconic Jeevan Bharthi Mandal School plays host to the first mural, where Ravi Patel, a graphic designer and art director, paints his magic.
At first glance, ‘Impossible Perception’ appears as an amalgamation of colours and patterns, but a deeper narrative unfolds upon closer examination. The mural showcases an interplay of anamorphic illusions — a technique where perspectives are deliberately distorted to create a three-dimensional effect on a two-dimensional surface.
As you shift your vantage point, hidden dimensions emerge, revealing previously unseen elements. This dynamic interaction aims to mirrors life’s multifaceted nature — how altering our perspective can unveil new layers of meaning and possibility.
As the sun’s rays shift throughout the day, casting shadows and highlights on the mural’s intricate details, ‘Impossible Perception’ continues to evolve, much like the stories it inspires.”
