HUITACA, the rebellious goddess.
The legend of Huitaca is born in the Chibcha culture, an ancient Muisca civilization that lived in the central Andean area of Colombia, where Bogota is currently located. According to legend, Huitaca was a beautiful woman who preached the need for a broad, joyful life, full of games and pleasures, she represented wisdom, rebellion and sexual liberation, a woman who opposed the teachings of Bochica (God / master of the muiscas).
Given her disobedience, the god Bochica turned her into a white owl, although others claim that Huitaca went up to the sky and became the wife of the sun, to give light at night, which is why the myth is also related to the cult of the moon. The Huitaca owl invites us to activate our night vision, our inner vision; to self-discover our darkness and empower ourselves from it to rekindle the flame that burns in each of us.
