“At the heart of the Lodhi Art District lies Neethi’s mural ‘Imagine A World’, narrating an ‘imagined world’ bursting with boundless possibilities well within our grasp. The mural showcases the first six Global Goals for Sustainable Development in fulfilment through the six windows respectively.
Lying at the convergence of creativity and purpose, the first window captures the joy of a child on her father’s shoulders, representing a world without deprivation and poverty. The second window shows a family sitting down for a meal, surrounded by hydroponic setups and solar panels, symbolising sustainable agriculture and an end to hunger. The third window features a youngster climbing the stairs to visit a doctor, signifying access to good healthcare. The fourth window portrays a girl moving forward confidently towards her educational goals, while a boy can be seen engrossed in nature-themed literature, representing access to quality education. Gender equality is embodied by a poised woman lawyer, soon to be joined by diverse figures, emphasizing equal opportunities. Finally, the sixth window showcases clean water and sanitation through the use of rooftop tanks, nurturing hands, and flourishing flora nourished by life-giving water.
The arch at the centre leading to Lodhi’s flora is not a mere architectural element, rather it is an invitation for the viewer to participate, symbolising a passage to this imagined world.
