“Mural Kings was asked by the residents of this Amsterdam neighbourhood to paint a big mural right next to the Vondelpark. The idea was to get inspired by our 17th century heritage of oilpainters. Therefore the Rijksmuseum invited us for an inspiration tour. The result were 3 propals based on paintings that were present in the Rijksmuseum during our visit. The residents choose their favorite. The girl with the pearl earring by Johannes Vermeer. Ofcourse we had to do a modern twist on the painting and not just copy it.
This icon painting has been painted in a million ways now by numerous artists all of over the world. But this one is of a different size and by the vision of artist BEYONDIf you want to see the real deal and admire this famous Vermeer painting and many more gems, you have to go to The Hague and visit the beautiful Mauritshuis Museum.
You can find the mural at the Amstelveenseweg 140 in Amsterdam. 13 Octobre there will be an opening between 16:00 and 18:00, all are welcome!”
