“We are fundamentaly all connected, space dust, the universe gaining a consciousness of itself in existence as human form. We create as we are created, playing through time and space, reinventing and exploring all that is and what could be. In a chapter of digital reality it can be easy to forget the magic of creativity within the natural world around us, as wild as our imaginations and as radical as the free spirits that possess our bodies. The Imaginative Intelligence Warriors I.e the kids of Holbeck know what’s up, informing us of what they care about deeply, what they value most about where they live and their expansive creativity. The mural inspiration is deeply rooted in the vibrancy of the residents that live here, we hope we did you justice and that it will serve to inspire for years to come.”

“This mural is a shout-out to the importance of nurturing creativity, not just in kids, but in everyone. Its painted on the side of Slung Low theater in Holbeck Leeds, commissioned by themselves and a group of local children called the intellectual imagination warriors.
Theater isn’t just a place for plays and performances; it’s a sanctuary where dreams are celebrated and imaginations run wild. The mural is there to inspire us to create environments that encourage young minds to thrive, where they can paint their own stories and shape their futures. Exactly what slug low does.
But, as kids grow up, something changes. Society starts putting them in boxes, and their once-bright imaginations fade. The mural reminds us of the sad truth, the world tends to strip away that beautiful spark of creativity. It’s like a wake-up call to reflect on how we can do better
We have named the mural ‘Cosmic Rapsody’ a tribute to the importance of nurturing creativity in all of us, regardless of age. To create environments that empower young minds to thrive, allowing them to paint their own stories and shape their futures—a mission embraced by the intellectual imagination warriors from Ingram Road Primary School, They are the true artists of this production certainly opened up my mind!”
