Acrylic on Sr Gustavos traditional fishermans hut and home.
The 3rd of 4 portrait murals I created in the remote fishing village of Tarrafal on the island of St° Antão in Cabo Verde recently for Kriol Urban Fest.
Thiss mural was my last of 2023 and my fastest yet and took just 90minutes as the sun was going down and we were leaving that night and I would have no way to return to take photos.
The portrait is of Emrita who kindly and nervously let me position her how I would need her.
The last images are of an improvised workshop for local children. All you need is stick and stones, literally, and a bit of paint and some creativity. Each child was very proud and territorial over the stones they had painted as they have so little but also expect so little. It makes one think a bit before buying ten tons of stuff no one needs this Xmas!”
