The masked character refers to social commitment, a necessary ingredient for creating a healthy and more humane society. The other two figures, looking down in the opposite direction, seem lost in thought with an expression of melancholy. The flowers contrast with this melancholy. They represent hope and resilience, they emerge from the characters to symbolize the strength of finding beauty in life’s difficult trials. Nature shows by example that beauty is born from collective work.
