“I put together contrasting personalities from different backgrounds that share in the collective memory of displacement. I made many photographs in the lead up to the anniversary of the city’s destruction by a single British Bombing raid on 23rd February 1945. In a city with an evolving identity characterized by Destruction, Reconstruction, Jewelry-making, and the city’s byline of ‘Goldstadt.’ City of gold became the concept that influenced a search for contrast and atmospheric light in a contemporary climate of migration and asylum. All these thoughts influenced the colour palette which I continue to use gratefully from KEIMFARBEN.”
