“My work explores connections of landscape history through folklore and their place in the current day. The character in my piece is inspired by stories in Dutch folklore of Moss Fairies and Elves who lived amongst the trees. Like Scotland, the Netherlands holds the Celtic belief of the sacredness of trees, in particular Oak Trees, so elements of this can be seen in the mural to represent the Celtic connection between the Netherlands and Scotland. The character can be seen wearing a helmet and holding a wheel, this is to represent the strong connection in Assen with cycling and motorcycling.”

“Scottish-based artist KMG has been decorating the streets with her playful characters for over a decade. About time we worked together! She made this Dutch folklore-inspired mural for the street art festival in Assen!”
