“I always try and link the reflection in the eye to the place I’m working and for this wall I had to do a fair bit of digging. After a few evenings research I stumbled across a wonderful fellow who’s nickname was Mr Gosport.
Syd Ashby spent his entire working life helping to raise funds for various charities. It seemed fitting to place him (as well as holy trinity church and the pub sign of ‘the Vine, the building I was painting).”
