“WOMEN, LIFE, FREEDOM!
With this mural we want to bring attention to the ongoing protests in Iran. We are commemorating all of the activists who lost their lives, are in prison, have experienced violence or became a symbol for the protests.
A couple of months ago a woman from Iran, who we now consider our dear friend, messaged us if we wanted to help her make a mural about the protests in Iran, so she could contribute to them from here. We were honored! She found the owner of the building (Bulten BV) and they gave her this wall and permission for the painting. She told us the stories of all of these people, and why we are commemorating them.
Next post we will dedicate to all of these stories! Because it is extremely important that they are being heard.
So many volunteers helped us, from Iran but also from other places, and this week was magical. The feeling of making something so important together is something we will never forget.
We made this mural as a donation, and lunches and beers for the volunteers were contributed by the community! Thank you donors!
Sadly we can only have this mural for half a year since the permit ends then, so go and see it soon! (In the Koude Gat, Groningen). And if you would like to see this mural for longer, send your positive feedback to the gemeente”
