“n early July, I had the honor to paint this fresco commissioned by Seek Dundalk on the theme of immigration in 1849 from Ireland to New York from the ancestors of current American President Joe Biden. Their story echoes the journey of more than a million Irish who left these shores in search of a better life. A family moving from shoemaker to president of the United States. In its origins the history of these ancestors begins like tens of thousands of others… poverty, hardships, trying to earn a living and feed his family on lands hit by famine… His Irish ancestors tell a fascinating story of immigration and determination, a man desperately looking for a better life for his wife and children in “The New World”.”
