““Essenze di Gallura” is the title of the work I created for the renowned Santa Lucia Staircase in the well-known municipality of Arzachena, in the Costa Smeralda.
The work represented offers a lush scenery of the typical flora of Gallura, highlighting the natural richness of the territory. Myrtle and rosemary lead the viewer along a staircase to the church of Santa Lucia, where an olive tree symbolizes peace and brotherhood, crucial themes in a historical era like ours. The synoptic scale, represented as a red band, draws attention to climate change. Saint Lucia is venerated as the patron saint of sight and eye protection and rosemary (white silhouette) contains substances that promote eye health. The myrtle, linked to the goddess Venus, symbolizes purity and beauty, while the olive tree, sacred in various traditions, represents regeneration and peace.”
