This mural shows the bond between FRANK (short for Frankston) the domestic cat and his loyal owner KAT (the woman).
Frank, like all cats, is a bit bossy and stubborn and places himself above his master. But they have a mutual and loving relationship, which is very important. Keeping pets gives benefits for people’s health and well-being.
Completing this mural turned out to be a real challenge. Climbing all day long for 6 days in a row. A scaffolding which wasn’t high and wide enough to reach the whole wall, making the design a lot smaller than planned. No doddle grid possible, and no way to step back checking from a distance if what you’re painting is correct because of all pipes and platforms in front of it. Working my way around all pipes in all kind of crazy positions wearing my body down till it hurts. Few days of hard wind and a soaking wet wall from the rain several times. No telling how it will look when the scaf comes down eventually. Nancy Montforts and I did the best we could in these circumstances. That said, it still was a blast to do this mural, my first in Australia!
