“Salaryman paste up in Tokyo.
During our amazing trip to Japan we were able to do a few paste up in Tokyo and Osaka thanks to Gallery Kawamatsu! It’s normally extremely complicated to have authorisations there so we are really grateful to those who helped us.
Here is a new fully hand painted paste-up with acrylic created from one of the drawings showcased for our solo show. It’s based on the concept of a “salaryman”, which in Japanese popular culture, is a white-collar worker who shows overriding loyalty and commitment to the corporation where he works to the point where he has to participate in after-work leisure activities such as drinking. Sometimes until they are totally drunk in the streets. This work shows the excess of social pressure you can find in various societies around the globe and particularly relevant in Japan.”
