Río Grande, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina : new piece by Mariela Ajras.
“The Land of the fire, an intense island of Wind and oceans where the days stretch the hours of the sun that kisses the earth where the very last end of the World bends. There lies, beating, a big River of the South facing the eyes of the Malvinas reminding them, always. An intermittent gust of Wind of the strongest knots that blows the paint off the brushes and stregthens the artist’s endeavour, who holds on tight to her art and her wall, knowing that More than just colors AND directions Will emerge from that attempt. A deep spirit of a patagonic AND matriarchal community which lived the south AND harvested in its lands Selk’nam tradition AND history. A firy woman of Yesterday AND today, rebuilding herself in the present with the strenghth inherited from her foremothers’ leadership.
The Broad River, the short nights, the tangling Wind, the friendship Made with souls who are always dreaming of the Future. The great experience left by the South in me.”
